BOOST Energies dismisses claims of fuel contamination at Kumasi depot

BOOST Energies Limited Company (BOOSTenergies) has denied media reports alleging fuel contamination at its Kumasi Depot, describing the publications as “false and misleading.”

According to the company, the said reportage “are false, inaccurate, mischievous, and misrepresents the facts surrounding the matter.”

In its account of the development, BOOST Energies noted that the incident involved a tanker truck bearing registration number GN 8887-18, which was suspected of transporting adulterated petroleum products to the depot.

“The incident in question relates to a tanker truck bearing registration number GN 8887-18, which was suspected of carrying adulterated petroleum product to the depot. In the course of routine operational and quality assurance procedures at the depot, personnel identified anomalies with the product and immediately initiated the necessary control measures,” the statement said.

The company stated that, in line with its established quality control protocols, samples of the product were taken and subjected to internal analysis, which indicated that the product did not meet the required specifications.

It added that additional samples were subsequently submitted to an independent third-party testing facility for verification, with the assessment confirming that the product was off-specification.

“Following this confirmation, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) was formally notified, and the tanker truck was immediately impounded in accordance with regulatory requirements. In addition, the appropriate regulatory and administrative actions are being pursued against the tanker driver and the Transporter,” the statement noted.

BOOST Energies maintained that the detection of the off-specification product demonstrated the effectiveness of its quality assurance systems and operational controls, and added that at “no point did the incident compromise the integrity of products within the depot’s storage and distribution system, as no litre of product was discharged from the said vehicle.”

The company advised the public to disregard reports alleging fuel contamination at the Kumasi Depot, as they are unfounded and do not accurately reflect the circumstances of the incident.

BOOST Energies reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety and operational excellence across its facilities and pledged to work closely with relevant regulatory authorities to safeguard the integrity of petroleum products throughout the supply chain.
