Commuters escaped danger on Monday, June 29, 2026, after a bus was trapped in rising floodwater on the Spintex–Polo Grounds road.
Eyewitness accounts say the bus became stuck as heavy rains flooded the stretch. Passengers were forced to climb out through windows and onto higher parts of the vehicle to reach safety.
No injuries have been reported, but the incident highlights the danger of driving through flooded roads during this morning’s downpour.
The Ministry of the Interior earlier advised motorists and pedestrians to avoid flooded roads, bridges, and waterways, noting that floodwaters can rise rapidly and pose significant risk to life and property.
Emergency services have been deployed across flood-prone areas in Accra to assist stranded persons and manage traffic.
