The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has placed Greater Accra, Volta, Central and Eastern regions at Risk Level ‘E’ today, Tuesday, June 30, 2026, warning of thunderstorms, rain and possible flash flooding from 8:30am to 2:00pm.

The alert follows GMet’s tracking of a slow-moving rainstorm at the coast of Benin moving westwards over the country.

GMet coded the four regions at ‘E’ on its impact-based matrix, meaning a medium likelihood of 40% to 60% combined with medium impact. Residents should expect thunderstorms, rain, slight to moderate winds, and reduced visibility between 6,000 and 10,000 metres.

The Agency also warned of localized flash flooding in vulnerable areas, and urged the public to watch for fallen trees, loose electrical cables and damaged utility poles.

The same system will later affect Western, Ashanti, Ahafo, Western North and Bono regions from 10:30am to 4:00pm, with GMet moving those areas from Risk Level ‘D’ to ‘E’ in the afternoon.

Motorists have been advised to drive with caution, reduce speed and use headlights where necessary, while pedestrians should avoid walking through flooded areas.
