The Constituency Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Lower Manya Krobo, Godwin Oblanda A.D. Totroku, has distanced himself from a recent press conference calling for the removal of Alhaji Sumaila Mahama as Eastern Regional Representative supervising the ongoing branch elections.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Mr. Totroku said he did not engineer, sponsor, or support the press conference “in any way, whether directly or indirectly.”
He acknowledged that he has disagreements with Alhaji Sumaila Mahama on matters relating to the conduct of the branch elections. However, he said such concerns should be handled through the appropriate party structures.
“I believe that concerns about the electoral process should be pursued through the proper party channels, including formal petitions to the Constituency Elections Committee and the National Executive Committee, and not through public press engagements that risk deepening divisions within the party,” he stated.
Mr. Totroku urged all stakeholders to exercise restraint and allow due process to run its course as the party prepares for its branch elections in the constituency.
The press conference had accused Alhaji Sumaila Mahama of mishandling the branch election process in Lower Manya Krobo and called for his removal as the regional representative overseeing the exercise.
