The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation has donated relief items worth GH¢150,000 to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality to support the municipality’s preparedness and response to flood-related emergencies.

The donation, presented by the Executive Secretary of the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, Abdel Razak Yakubu, forms part of the Foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and complementing the efforts of NADMO in disaster management.

The items donated included: 16 boxes of cooking oil (each containing 4 gallons), 36 bags of rice, 10 life jackets, 10 pairs of Wellington boots, 10 raincoats, 30 packets of roofing sheets, and 50 bags of cement, among others.

Presenting the items, Mr. Yakubu disclosed that their gesture follows NADMO’s appeal to institutions for support in the wake of the recent flood disaster.

He reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting communities within its operational areas, especially during emergencies, adding that the donation would help ease the burden on affected residents and improve NADMO’s emergency response capacity.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly, the Municipal NADMO Director, Mr. Jacob Nyarko Cromwell, expressed profound appreciation to the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation for the timely intervention.

He described the donation as a significant boost to NADMO’s operations, noting that the relief items would go a long way in assisting victims of flooding and enhancing the municipality’s disaster preparedness efforts.
