The Government has eulogised the late Overlord of Dagbon, His Majesty Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II, describing his legacy as “invaluable.”

In a statement of condolences issued by the Presidency on Monday, July 13, 2026, the government underscores Yaa Naa’s distinguished leadership that brought healing, reconciliation, and lasting peace to the people of Dagbon following years of conflict.

“His unwavering commitment to unity, stability, and the welfare of his people created an enabling environment for development and strengthened the enduring partnership between the traditional authorities and the government in advancing progress across Dagbon and Ghana.

“The Government pays tribute to the life and legacy of Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II and honours his invaluable service to the nation,” the statement said.

The statement was adamant that his wisdom, leadership, and dedication to peace would continue to inspire future generations.
