The Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom in Northern, His Royal Majesty, Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari II, has reported passed.
His death was announced on Monday, July 13, 2026, by the Adani Family on its official social media page.
“With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of His Royal Majesty, the King of Dagbon, who departed this life last night. Today, Dagbon mourns the loss of a revered father, a wise leader, and a custodian of our rich heritage.
“His reign, wisdom, humility, and unwavering dedication to the peace and unity of Dagbon will forever remain etched in our hearts.”
In accordance with the sacred customs and traditions of the Dagbon Kingdom, all traditional rites have been duly observed, and His Majesty has been laid to rest at Katina, the post reads further.
Yaa Naa Abukari II was a revered leader who brought peace and unity to the kingdom.
He was enstooled in January 2019 following the successful implementation of the road map that resolved the protracted Dagbon chieftaincy dispute to restored peace to Dagbon after a 16-year.
