Three suspects have been put before the Bekwai Circuit Court for disrupting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Executive Election process over the weekend at Bidieso in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects are Haruna Iddrisu alias Dole, Osei Boateng alias Nana Osei, and Charles Opoku alias Blackman, who are currently facing charges of conspiracy to commit a crime.
This comes after they allegedly stormed the polling station on July 12, 2026, armed with offensive weapons, scattered ballot boxes, and threatened election officials and voters.
A police reinforcement team from the Ashanti South Regional Command swiftly intervened and arrested the suspects, retrieving one axe and one cutlass during the operation.
In court, the suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges and were each granted bail in the sum of GHS50,000.00 with two justified sureties. The case has been adjourned to August 10.
According to a police statement, investigations continue, and efforts are underway to arrest other persons suspected to be involved in the incident.
