Film actress, Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu, has pledged GH¢50,000 to assist veteran Kumawood actor Kwadwo Kwakye Obuobi as he undergoes treatment for a critical kidney disease.
The actress announced this while appealing to the public to contribute towards the actor’s medical care, revealing that approximately GH¢700,000 is required to finance a life-saving kidney transplant.
“I have come to contribute GH¢50,000 towards his treatment. We need nearly GH¢700,000 for the transplant procedure, and I believe that if everyone lends a hand, we can raise the amount needed,” Mercy Asiedu said.
She further encouraged individuals to donate whatever they can afford, stressing that every contribution would make a difference.
“Any amount God places on your heart to give will be deeply appreciated. Our goal is to ensure he survives and continues the remarkable work he has dedicated his life to. He has been part of my productions for many years, and we’ve shared countless projects together. We cannot remain silent while his life hangs in the balance,” she stated.
In a video recorded from the hospital, Mercy Asiedu disclosed that the veteran actor urgently requires overseas medical treatment for a kidney transplant.
She explained that the financial demands of the procedure are beyond the capacity of a single individual, making public support essential.
“Our brother, Kwadwo Kwakye Obuobi, is currently receiving treatment, and this is not a burden I can carry alone. He needs all of us to stand with him. Together, we can help save his life,” she appealed.
The actress also urged Ghanaians to extend support to people in need while they are still alive, highlighting the actor’s significant contributions to the country’s movie industry.
“We must learn to support those who have served us before it’s too late. His condition is extremely critical, and he urgently needs to travel abroad for treatment. I appeal to everyone watching to contribute because he is one of Ghana’s treasured talents. He has brought joy to countless Ghanaians through his performances, and now he needs our help,” she added.
