The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Accra has been closed temporarily to the public for a scheduled maintenance, from July 20 to July 31, 2026, the Embassy announced.
In a public notice on Wednesday, the Embassy said during this period, it will be unable to process visas and other consular services, except in life-or-death emergencies.
“The Embassy has rescheduled all visa appointments that were to take place during this period,” It stated.
According to the Embassy, applicants who have received an email confirming that their passport or Consular Report of Birth Abroad is ready for pickup may visit the Embassy on July 23 or July 30 between 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m
The Embassy urged the public to rely on official communication channels for updates and further information, and indicated that regular consular operations are expected to resume on August 1.
