The Ministry of Education has cautioned heads and school management across the country against charging unauthorised fees to students.
It further warned against the diversion of food meant for students, stressing that the practice would not be tolerated.
Speaking at the 50th anniversary celebration of Zamse Senior High/Technical School (ZAMSTECH) in Bolgatanga, Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, described these practices as a betrayal of trust.
According to him, parents should not be burdened with unapproved fees, and no child should go hungry due to the diversion of food meant for their meals.
Dr. Clement Abas Apaak urged school authorities to ensure that students receive the meals provided for them by the government.
He clarified that the Ministry’s concerns apply to all schools across the country.
Dr. Apaak also emphasised the need for a collective effort by “teachers, parents, traditional and religious leaders, and communities” to address growing indiscipline in schools.
The minister called for stronger collaboration among all stakeholders to promote discipline and create a safe, supportive learning environment for students.
