Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has appealed to veteran musician Slim Buster not to allow social media narratives to create unnecessary misunderstanding between them.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, October 21, the dancehall artiste said he was surprised that developments on social media had escalated into tension between them, stressing that he has no intention of disrespecting the veteran musician.
Shatta Wale was reacting to comments made by Slim Buster in an interview where the veteran artiste addressed comparisons between himself and younger artistes, including Shatta Wale, Samini and Stonebwoy. Slim Buster had argued that Shatta Wale was no better than himself while criticising toxic fanbase behaviour.
But Shatta Wale insists he never intended any disrespect.
“Whatever anyone may have told you might have triggered your decision to engage in these online battles with the fans. But I want you to understand one thing from today: I will never come at you with disrespect or hostility,” he stated.
He said he has no reason to fight Slim Buster and should not be treated as though he initiated the situation.
“I have no reason to fight you, and I believe we should know better than to allow social media narratives to create unnecessary misunderstandings between us. My fans are loyal and won’t forgive you since they never heard or saw me come at you,” he said.
Shatta Wale further urged Slim Buster to understand how the internet works, noting that not every comment requires a response.
He said his message was not for trends but out of genuine respect.
“I say this with nothing but respect for you. This is not for trends but a little advice from a younger brother to the senior,” he added.
He concluded by reiterating his respect for Slim Buster and calling for an end to the tension.
