President Nana Akufo-Addo is expected in the Northern Region on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, to cut the sod for works to begin on the expansion of a 135, 000 cubic metre water project in Tamale.
The Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, disclosed this during an interview on Angel FM’s morning show proghramme, Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ.
According to her, the project has become necessary due to the growing population of Tamale, the Regional capital.
“We are projecting and expecting that by 2040, there would be abundance of water for the people of Tamale,” she said.
She added that, the first water project that was commissioned in Tamale was about 40, 000 cubic metres under the former President, John Agyekum Kuffour-led administration.
It is a good initiative for the Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to undertake this water project again, the Minister stated.
“Nana Akufo-Addo needs to be applauded and appreciated for this big initiative,” she added.
