A month ago today, the campaign #PatientsLivesMatter was launched on Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ with the aim of ending medical negligence in various forms in medical facilities in Ghana.

The campaign has been largely successful with fruitful outcomes as people have come on the show to share their experiences on how badly they were treated in hospitals.

Some have had unforgettable experiences leaving scars on either their bodies or minds forever.

Celebrated radio presenter, Nana Yaa Brefo Danso was the first to share a bitter experience of how through the negligence of a doctor, she lost her womb.

Her bitter experience became the talk of town with many sympathising with her.

A fashion designer, Mustapha Muhammed who lost his wife through the negligence of medical team at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge) also appeared on the show to demand justice for his late wife.

After appearing on the show, the case which was since sent to the law court have seen significant progress with the medical facility filing a defense.

Dr Emmanuel Kuto who also lost his spouse at the same facility is also in court to demand justice.

Thanks to the #PatientLivesMatter team, Ridge has responded to the suit. We will continue to update our listeners and readers.

Gifty Azuye who was also on the show with a complain of fistula is also seeking medical attention at Women’s Hospital in Winneba.

Katherine Ossom also narrated how she went under the knife on three different occassions at the Roman Catholic Hospital in Agormanya in the Eastern Region when she went to deliver her third child.

“When they took me to the theatre, the doctor in charge of the operation told me the anesthetist in charge was not there so they decided to do the operation. I kept screaming as he cut open into me…,” she said.

One month after launching the campaign, the production team of the Morning Show can proudly report that it has been successful and the struggle continues unabated.
