The Madina District court has remanded a business man, Charles Dedjoe, into police custody for allegedly killing his wife at East Legon.

Briefing the court, the prosecutor, Sergent Eva Gidiglo said, the the complainant is the father of the deceased who is a retired administrator residing at Sogakope in the Volta region.

She said the accused is a business executive and was married to the deceased, Lilian Didiglo and both were living at East Legon until their relationship got marred with some misunderstanding leading to conflicts between them.

On the 1st March, 2021, a misunderstanding ensued between them leading the accused to  assault the deceased. She sustained some injuries and she went for treatment at the Madina Polyclinic.

According to the prosecution, when the deceased returned home her condition deteriorated and on the 6th March, Lilian went into coma and was rushed to Lister Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.

A report was made to the police and he was arrested but admitted during investigations that he indeed assaulted the wife with his slippers.

Lawyers for the accused person, Nkrabea Effah Dartey, Julio Demederious and Nkrabea Effah Dartey Jnr prayed the court to admit their client to bail as he has a fixed place of abode and not a flight risk.

The Lawyers further told the court that he is ready to stand trail to prove his innocence.

Charles Dedjoe, the Lawyer argued further is also a responsible and family man who is very traumatized by the death of his wife and need to take care of the children and family as well.

He further prayed the court to admit him to bail as his client is a well known business man who will never run and also the facts of the case does not support the charge of murder against him.

Prosecution opposed to the bail, praying the court that they are still investigating the case and the accused is a flight risk.

The court presided over by her Worship, Maame Efua Tordimah refused the bail application and remanded the accused into police custody and to reappear on 22nd March, 2021.
