The Parliament of Ghana has approved the nominations of one minister of state and eleven deputy ministers.

Their nominations were approved after the Appointments Committee of the House presented their reports to the house after vetting.

Presenting the committee’s report, the first deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei Owusu stated that the President Akufo-Addo submitted to Parliament, one (1) Minister of State and 39 Deputy Ministers designate for consideration and approval in accordance with Article 78 Clause 1 to 79 Clause 1.

He said, the committee advertised the nominations as the laws demand used ten days to consider the first set of 12, which includes a Minister of State and 11 Deputy Ministers.

The Bekwai MP further urged the House to give their approval to the names presented since their performance before the Appointment Committee was very good and also demonstrated their readiness to work for the betterment of Ghana.

The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu questioned the performance of Mr Charles Kofi Asare Adu-Boahen as he owns the Black Star Brokerage Company which acts as a transaction advisor for government bonds and believe that, Mr Adu-Boahen might have a challenge of conflict of interest in discharge of duty as a minister of state at the finance ministry.

The issues raised notwithstanding, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin posed the question before the House for Approval or otherwise, but the whole House gave their approval to the first batch of the minister of state and the deputy ministers.
