The Coalition of Rotation Nurses and Midwives has given the government a one-month ultimatum to pay their seven month arrears in full, else they will embark on a nationwide strike.
This was indicated in the disgruntled group’s letter addressed to various Hospital Directors across the 16 regions of the country.
The service personnel, expressing their discontentment noted that despite the failure to release the funds, authorities have not provided any information on the reasons for the nonpayment.
The letter read in part: “We the nurses and midwives on rotations in the various hospitals nationwide have come to a conclusion to vacate post and lay down our working tools effective 1st October, 2021.
“This is as a result of the unbearable hardship over the months and there hasn’t been any communications to us stipulating the date and month our allowances will be paid.”
It continued: “It is by this reasons we want to draw the attention of your office to a possible strike and laying down of working tools on the above stated date,” they emphasised.
The statement further stressed that they are anticipating that their letter of request would reach the appropriate authorities so they can be attended to.
