Ghana’s Covid-19 cases have risen to nearly 2,900 following the record of 133 new cases as of Thursday, October 7, 2021.
According to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the country’s death toll has reached 1,157 which is 121 more deaths since August 27 updates on the Covid-19 dashboard.
Figures from the dashboard also indicates that 1,24,111 persons have been treated and discharged.
Since the inception of the Covid-19 outbreak on March 12, 2020, Ghana has recorded a total of 128,159 confirmed cases.
In terms of gender distribution, more males are succumbing to the Coronavirus compared to their female counterparts. The males lead with 57% while the female percentage is 42.
The regional distribution of cases places Greater Accra as the hottest spot with 69,118.
The Ashanti Region comes second with 20,677 cases while the Western Region follows suit with a little over 7,000 recorded cases.
Further information reveals that out of the 16 regions, North East and Savannah Regions have the least cases with 270 and 262 respectively.
As at October 4, 2021, persons who have been fully vaccinated, according to the service, are 820,037 .
So far, the country has administered a total of 2,025,183 doses of vaccines.
Of this figure, 7291 have received their first doses from the Moderna vaccines, while 1,190,564 persons received their first jabs from Astrazeneca and Sputnik-V vaccines.
