The District Police Commander of Assin Fosu, Chief Superintendent Cephas Arthur, has cautioned the residents and the general public not to take their personal security for granted during the Christmas season as criminals will take advantage of the least opportunity.

According to him, this is the period theft and burglary tend to rise so people must secure their homes, vehicles and shops and desist from revealing sensitive personal information such as their home address, financial information, phone number and travel details to strangers.

In an interview with Angel TV’s reporter, Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack, Supt. Cephas Arthur said that ensure that all your doors and home environment are properly secured before leaving the home.

The days of leaving your house key in a flower pot or beneath your door mats is over. These are the first places thieves will look out for when they attempt breaking in, he said in the Twi parlance.

He added that parents must not leave children to lock the door in a haste to depart for a programme but should personally do so for safety reasons.

He also cautioned the youth especially ladies to avoid excessive drinking when they go out with known or unknown persons during the period.

Lastly, he assured that though the police are ready to fight the criminals, “residents should seek first personal security for the police to add theirs to it”, he said.
