The Black Princesses of Ghana have defeated Uganda by 2-1 in the 1st leg of the third round of the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup qualifiers.

The game was played on Saturday, January 22, 2022 in Entebbe, Uganda.

Uganda dominated possession in the early stages of the game and came close taking the lead but the defensive line of the Princesses, led by Anastasia Achia, prevented the home side’s early efforts.

Coach Ben Forkuo’s side then took over possession and scored in the 20th minute through Salamatu Abdulai who lobbed the ball over goalkeeper Daphine Nyayenga after receiving a pass from Grace Anima.

Ghana nearly doubled the lead before the first half through Doris Boaduwaa, but goalkeeper Daphine Nyayenga denied the Ghanaians the lead.

After the break, Grace Animah doubled Ghana’s lead in the 48th minute from a free-kick at edge of the box.

The hosts pulled one back in the 83rd minute as captain Fauzia Najjemba converted from the spot after substitute Shamirah Nalugya was fouled inside the box.
