Another suspect in the Mamobi-Nima violent clash arrested

The Police in collaboration with the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) have arrested one more suspect in the Mamobi-Nima clash, Farouk Dauda.

The 31-year-old was arrested at his hideout in a suburb of Accra after going into hiding after the incident which occurred on January 18, 2022.

He admitted his involvement in the said clash where he was captured in a video footage wielding a machete during interrogation.

A search conducted on him led to the retrieval of a wrapped substance suspected to be Indian hemp.

The suspect is currently in Police custody assisting with investigations.

Meanwhile, efforts are being made to arrest all other persons involved in the violent incident.

On Tuesday, January 18, a misunderstanding between two rival groups led to a violent clash which left scores of persons injured.

Seven persons were initially arrested while police were on the heels of the gang leaders.

The Ghana Police Service subsequently placed a GH¢20,000 bounty on the head of the leaders of the two rival youth groups that engaged in the violent clashes which occurred at Nima in Accra.

According to the police, the two gangs – Bombom group and Kumordzi group – are led by Ali Awudu and Ibrahim Husein, respectively.
