Host of Accra FM’s ‘Citizen Show’ Kwabena Bobie Ansah, has refuted allegations levelled against him by the Police Service claiming h,is arrest followed his inability to honour police invites.

The journalist was arrested Thursday, February, 10, 2022, by the Accra Regional Police Command for allegedly accusing President Akufo-Addo and his wife Rebecca, for fraudulently acquiring Government lands at AU Village at Cantonments.

The Police in a statement said his arrest became necessary after he turned down several invitations from them to him and others involved in the case to assist with investigation.

He has, since been charged with the publication of false news and offensive conduct. Meanwhlie, the Kaneshie District Court on Friday, February 11, granted him GH¢50,000 bail.

The case has also been adjourned to March 14, 2022.

But Mr. Bobie Ansah says the claims that, he turned down Police invitation as contained in their statement is “falsehood”.

Detailing his account on what happened, he said, “the Police Service about two weeks ago wrote to CMG requesting for a video i aired on his show concerning the land under discussions which they provided.”

The journalist revealed that, after his employers provided the police with their request, he had returned call he earlier missed on Thursday, February 10, around 8am where the respondent mentioned his name as Sup. Asare from the national crime office.

He said, the supposed crime officer “further directed me to go and see the Cantonments police crime officer for some discussions, actually he sounded incoherent but I think it’s trivial for me to dwell on it.”

Kwabena Bobie Ansah added “apparently I was out of town and was setting off back to Accra. However, I did the needful and called the man called Mr Appeatu [and] we had a very fruitful discussion on the phone and concluded that we can meet on this coming Monday morning.”

In this regard, the accused disclosed that he had prepared himself for the meeting between both parties on Monday, February 14, only for him to face arrest by security officers.

He concluded by noting that he would a,t the appropriate time, publish the screenshot of the message sent him by the officer who identified himself as Superintendent Asare.
