A Senior High School student has died in an accident involving a Ford Transit bus, at Fankyenekor in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region on the Eastern Corridor Road.
The accident is said to have occurred around 12:35 PM on Wednesday, February 23.
Angel News’ Caleb Kwasi Ali reported that the deceased, a student of Kedjebi Asaro Senior High School, died instantly when the crash occurred.
The bus, with registration number GT 5814 -13, was travelling from Kpassa in the Nkwanta North Municipality and heading towards Hohoe.
Caleb Kwasi Eli also reported that the remaining 16 passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries with some having their arms and legs broken.
The injured were rushed to Nkwanta South Government Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital for medical attention by the ambulance service.
Suhum
In a separate accident at Suhum on the Apedwa-Asafo Road in the Eastern Region, two persons have also lost their lives.
The accident involved a Kia Rhino with registration number GR 667 -19 loaded with charcoal.
Angel News’ Francis Armah reported that the incident happened at 3:00 am on Thursday when the Kia Rhino travelling from Wenchi to Accra tried to overtake another vehicle.
Narrating the incident, he said the charcoal-loaded truck attempted an overtaking around Asafo Junction but failed to see an oncoming trailer.
The driver in an attempt to avoid colliding with the trailer tried to rejoin his lane unsuccessfully and somersaulted several times.
The two driver’s mates are reported to have died on the spot.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Suhum morgue.
