‘I never used juju to play football’ – Asamoah Gyan

Former Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan has said he never practiced black magic commonly known as ‘juju’ throughout his football career.

According to him, the best form of what he accepted as ‘juju’ was ‘giving’, something he said motivated him to help the less privilege in societies.

Speaking to Saddick Adams, the former Sunderland and Udinese goal monster observed that “My juju is all about doing good to people, that is giving to the needy.”

“I will urge everybody to do good. Help people, their words go a long way to affect you positively in life and these things help me to become successful” Asamoah Gyan added.

Also, he underscored how massively the culture of giving has contributed positively to his gains and achievement.

Asked if he has ever witnessed something strange in his career as a player, Gyan responded that during his days with Turkey’s side Kayserispor, “I saw a lot because, before we play home matches, they had to slaughter a sheep in front of the team bus before it set off to the stadium.”

The Ghana great further disclosed that at a point in India with NorthEast United, the entire team visited a powerful shrine before the start of one of their season.
