Accra Hearts of Oak’s Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was twice on the score sheets as the team on Friday afternoon overcame a lacklustre Accra Lions FC 3-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium to return to winnings.

The victory follows their 1-1 draw to Elmina Sharks last weekend.

Isaac Agyenim Boateng also added one to ensure the Ghana Premier League title holders return to the fourth position in the ongoing 2021/22 season.

The guests took the lead in the 10th minute of the game through Daniel Afriyie Barnieh after receiving a pass from midfield kingpin Salifu Ibrahim in the opponents penalty box before firing a shot at the back of the net.

The phobians came close doubling their lead in the 14th minutes but an effort from striker Obeng Junior was saved by goalkeeper Appiah Kubi.

The Lions was reduced to ten men in the 37th minute after Rashid Abubakar was red carded.

Accra Hearts of Oak took the numerical advantage and controlled proceedings as they went into the break with a goal lead.

From recess, Samuel Boadu’s forces added to their tally a second goal in the 55th minutes through Isaac Agyenim Boateng. That came before Afriyie Barnieh completed his brace and the third goal for his side with a header in the 89th minute from a Sulley Muntari cross.

The win thus elevated the phobians back into the top four with 40 points, behind third place Dormaa Aduana Stars on goal difference.

Accra Hearts of Oak host Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium in the week 26 fixtures of the league, as they hope to make their top four finished.
