Ghanaian Premier League Champions, Accra Hearts of Oak have commissioned a state-of-the-art commercial centre to commercialise activities of the club and to also house a Phobia store and a match ticket centre.
The commissioning took place on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, in the Greater Accra Region.
During the program, a sod was cut for the construction of a new secretariat to replace the current one at Adabraka.
The development comes after the Board Chairman of the club, Togbe Afedi XIV disclosed, in 2021, plans to raise an ultramodern secretariat befitting the club.
According to the club, the commercial centre is the first part of the four-step infrastructure project to modernise the club; which includes; New Head Office, Pobiman Sports Complex, and a dedicated football stadium.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Board Chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, said, the current Board has been in existence for ten years and therefore needed something to show for their efforts.
“When we took over the mantle about ten plus years ago, our vision as a club was to attain or pre-eminence in African Football”
“By doing so, we contribute to the development of the youth and also our communities” he added.
Delving into the new secretariat expected to be built, Togbe Afede XIV, said, they hope the facility is completed before the club’s 111th anniversary in November this year.
“We hope to complete the new secretariat in eight months. All other things being equal, the project should be completed by November for the club’s anniversary”
On his part, the Public Relations of Accra Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo, said, the team’s old secretariat will be demolished amidst putting up the new building.
He noted that, the old secretariat situated at Adabraka will be moved to their new Commercial Center in the interim until the completion of the new project.
Dignitaries who were present at the ceremony are; Board Chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, Vincent Odotei Sowah, Ex Management Chairman, NII Ayibontey, General Secretary of the GFA, Prosper Harrison Addo among others.
