A participant in the Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN) Fathers’ Day celebration, Mr. Thomas Owusu Fordjour, has called on fathers to take up their responsibilities as heads of the family.
The 58-year-old father asserted that when fathers are celebrated, their irresponsible counterparts would be encouraged to emulate their good example.
He made the comments Sunday, June 19, 2022, during a Fathers’ Day event organised by Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN) at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.
Mr. Fordjour stated that it is every father’s responsibility to take good care of their children because they brought them into the world.
He also expressed joy to be a part of the celebration while hoping that fathers would be celebrated more often so that fathers who do not take care of their children will be encouraged to be responsible fathers and take care of their children.
Mr. Thomas Owusu Fordjour, who was very proud of his child for ensuring he was invited to the Fathers’ Day celebration, said that children have a responsibility to bring smiles on the faces of their parents.
He, therefore, advised children to be respectful and listen to their parents’ advice.
“I will advise every child to respect their parents whether they have money or not because God is the giver of money. Also, children should respect everyone and not only their parents because respect is gained when you respect someone.”
The 58-year-old father bemoaned the get-rich-quick attitude of the youth these days.
He cited the example of most youths ‘sacrificing’ their friends and family for money rituals; a situation he said should stop.
In his view, God’s time is always the best thus, the youth should work hard and count on God for success.
He concluded by thanking God for the gift of life, and urging everyone to continue to believe in God and live a good life in order to receive God’s blessings.
