A Member of the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral, Reverend Dr Joyce Aryee, has stated that the edifice, when completed, will symbolize Ghana’s religiosity as a Christian nation.

She said the national monument would serve as an interdenominational centre for worship for Ghana.

The National Cathedral will serve as a symbol that Ghana is a Christian nation, the words of a Member of the Board of Trustees of the project, Reverend Dr Joyce Aryee

Dr Joyce Aryee made this assertion on the Anopa Bofoↄ morning show on Angel FM/TV that was aired from the National Cathedral construction site, Tuesday, August 9, 2022, hosted by Kwamina Sam Biney.

Reacting to a question over the concerns of many Ghanaians that the timing for the project is wrong, she said, Ghana needed something to designate herself as a Christian community.

“It is God who gave us the idea through the president that we live in a Christian nation but we don’t have any specific building which indicates that Christ lives in this country.

“We have too many churches but as a country like Ghana, we don’t have any symbol that signifies there is Christ in the country. Considering the phrase ‘God Bless Our Home Land Ghana’ in our national anthem, as a country, we recognize the presence of God but we have not done anything special which will stand as a symbol,” the Member of the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral Secretariat explained.

According to the former Education Minister under the then leadership of the late President Jerry John Rawlings from 1985-1987, the National Cathedral will be unique in its way of benefiting the country because it will also serve as a sign of blessing to the spiritually backed nation.

“So if we do that symbolism….you see, every country has its spirit and it is not something physical but rather spiritual so if we are able to complete this cathedral, the spirit of this country would be awakened,” Reverend Dr Joyce Aryee optimistic.
