President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed that all official flags in the country fly at half-mast for seven days from Friday, 9 September 2022, in memory of the departed Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen, who is UK’s longest-serving monarch, died on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at the Balmoral Castle, aged 96 after reigning for 70 years.

Nana Akufo-Addo, in a tribute to the Queen, ordered that all flags be at half-mast for seven days.

“In honour of her memory, I have directed that all official flags in the nation fly at half-mast for seven days,” he said.

According to the president, the Queen was a “cherished and revered monarch of the British people, the longest-serving in their history, who will be sorely missed. We are saddened by her departure.

“May God bless her soul and give her peaceful rest in His Bosom until the Last Day of the Resurrection when we shall all meet again,” he added.
