The Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has finally smoked the peace pipe with Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after the back and forth between the two.

The reunion comes on the back of Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu’s backlash against Mr. Otchere-Darko following the latter’s allegations that the Majority leader sponsored the lawmakers to call for the sacking of the finance minister over the country’s collapsed economy.

The Majority leader in an interview on Kumasi-based Sompa Radio is quoted to have said, “From nowhere, we hear Gabby Otchere-Darko on his Asaase Radio accusing me of instigating what was happening; for what? What do I stand to gain from that?

“There are people who would rather want to cause disintegration while you are committed to integrating. But now, this has brought about another sense of anger”.

“That Gabby Otchere-Darko, who does he think he is?” Mr. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu fumed.

He continued that “I serve Akufo-Addo, and I serve the party as well as the government. When we talk about the government itself, what is your locus standings to be accusing me of being an instigator?”

Fast Fastforward, Mr. Otchere-Darko denied ever making the claims alleged by the majority leader on any media platform.

“I have listened to excerpts of the interview of Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, on Sompa Radio, claiming I had gone on Asaase Radio to allege that he was the ringleader behind the NPP MPs calling for the resignation of the finance minister. He is also quoted in reports of that interview online as saying that I sponsored a failed candidate against him in the NPP parliamentary primaries leading to the 2016 general elections.

“I have since sent him a message on this denying same. But I consider it necessary to also put my side out publicly.

“I have said no such thing on Asaase Radio or any other radio station or media house, whether on air, online, or in print, either directly or indirectly. Indeed, my position, so far, on this issue in Parliament within the Majority Caucus, has been to deliberately stay away from commenting on it publicly.

“I have never sponsored any candidate against the Majority Leader for the Suame seat. I would never do such a thing to a person I considered a strong loyalist even within the NPP” the Danquah Insititute founder said in a disclaimer on Facebook.

But to let sleeping dog lie, the two NPP members have let bygones be bygones after Otchere-Darko called on the majority leader in his office in parliament, Wednesday, November 16, 2022.

Sources available to Angelonline.com.gh had it that the Dankwa Institute boss was accompanied by the deputy local government minister and MP for Akwapim South, Osei Bonsu Amoah [OB Amoah] where the matter was resolved amicably between the two parties.

In the company was also former Western Regional Minister Richard Joojo Rocky Obeng.
