The striking members of the Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (TUTAG) are expected to resume work on Monday, 12 December 2022, following the decision to suspend its action.
According to TUTAG, the decision to return to the classroom follows the conclusion of negotiations on its demands with the government.
TUTAG on November 18, 2022, declared an indefinite strike and demanded the review of vehicle maintenance allowance, implementation of the negotiated internally generated fund and other conditions of service.
However, after the three weeks of the strike, TUTAG in a statement signed by the National President, Prof Dr Ing Collins Ameyaw said the suspension takes immediate effect.
“Following conclusion of negotiations on internally generated fund-related conditions of service, off-campus and vehicle maintenance allowances, and pursuant to the memorandum of agreement signed between the government team and the labour unions (TUTAG, UTAG, GAUA and TEWU), we announce the suspension of the strike action declared on Monday, November 18, 2022.
“We therefore urge all members in the 10 Public Technical Universities to resume work on Monday, December 12, 2022,” it said.
TUTAG also expressed gratitude to the National Labour Commission for helping them reach an agreement in relation to their demands.
