The embattled Commissioner of Police (COP) Alex George Mensah, who is at the centre of the alleged plot against the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo-Dampare has been interdicted.
Mr. Mensah who is the Director General, Technical, of the Ghana Police Service was interdicted with two others by the administration of the police service.
The two other officers include Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi and Superintendent George Lysander Asare for their involvement in the leaked tape.
According to a statement signed by COP Christian Tetteh Yohonu, the Director General, Administration, COP Mensah’s interdiction takes immediate effect.
The decision, the statement added, was to “make way for disciplinary proceeding into their conduct in line with Police Service regulations.”
“You are to hand over your weapons, uniforms and other police accoutrements and or properties including your authority badge to DEPOL LOGISTICS,” the statement added.
The interdiction comes after COP Mensah appeared before the Parliamentary Committee investigating the leaked tape and the plot to oust the IGP.
This follows a conversation with former Northern Regional chairman of the NPP, Daniel Bugri Naabu.
