The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the temporal suspension of its parliamentary primaries at the Odododiodio Constituency.
A statement from the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, announced that all activities related to the primaries in the constitutuency have been temporarily suspended.
The decision, Mr. Kwetey noted, were concluded by the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the NDC after a meeting on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
The meeting aimed at discussing recent reports of recent violence at the Greater Accra Regional Office of the party during vetting of aspirants for the constituency parliamentary primaries.
“In the meantime, all processes relative to the party’s parliamentary primary in the Odododiodio Constituency have been put on hold pending the outcome of the investigations by the Special Committee,” the statement explained.
It stated that it has referred the issue to a special committee which will after investigations into the violence make appropriate recommendations on the primary.
The special committee include Rt. Hon. Edward Doe Adjaho – Former speaker of the Parliament, Dr. Samuel Sarpong – National Vice Chairman of the party, George Loh – Deputy Director Legal, Obuobia Darko-Opoku – Deputy Director of Communications and Peter Lanchene Toobu.
