The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has assured consumers that it is working to address the erratic water supply being experienced in some parts of the country.

It noted that the company has been hit with some technical challenges being experienced at its Weija Treatment Plant, leading to a shortfall in the volumes of water currently being produced.

The situation, it said, has resulted in customers experiencing low pressures in the flow to their properties and erratic flow in other areas.

According to the GWCL, the situation being experienced is a combination of factors, including “faulty equipment, increased demand, routine maintenance works and some unforeseen circumstances.”

Areas such as Gbawe, McCarthy Hill, Anyaa, Lapaz, Darkuman have been badly affected due to their elevated location.

A statement signed by the company’s Head of Public Relations and Communications, Stanley Martey, acknowledged the disruption in flow and assured customers of working actively to salvage the situation.

“Management wishes to assure our cherished customers that, our team of engineers are working assiduously to resolve the situation and restore supply as early as practicable.

“While we work to address the low pressure issues, some areas may experience more significant disruptions than others.”

The GWCL indicated they prioritize the essential service providers and critical facilities such as the hospitals, schools, thus, will ensure they minimize the impact on their operations.

Whiles the statement said the GWCL appreciate the cooperation of all, they further apologize for the inconveniences caused.

“Management of the GWCL deeply regrets the inconvenience caused and appreciate the understanding and cooperation of the public, while we plead with consumers to bear with the situation,” it added.

The GWCL promised the general public that it shall keep consumers updated on progress of the work to bring respite to affected areas.
