The Ministry of Interior has declared Friday, December 1, 2023, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Farmers Day.
“The general public is hereby informed that Friday, 1st December, 2023 which marks Farmers’ Day, is a Statutory Public Holiday,” a statement signed by the sector minister, Ambrose Dery read in part.
The statement further entreated the general public to observe the day as such throughout the country.
The National Farmers’ Day is an annual celebration of farmers and fishermen, observed on the first Friday of December.
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture uses the day to honor deserving farmers and fishermen across the country.
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) also announced that there will be road blocks within the Ministries enclave.
The block which stretches from the Starlet 91 Road to the National Theatre traffic light will begin on Monday, November 27, 2023, and will end of Friday, December 1.
The blocks start from the Ridge Roundabout through the Principal Streets of Parliament House, Independence Square, the John Evans Atta Mills Highway, the Court Complex to the Principal Streets of the National Theatre.
Announcing the decision, MoFA in a statement indicated that a key aspect to the 39th edition of the Farmers’ Day celebrations, is a five-day Agricultural fair dubbed “Agrifest Ghana 2023” in Accra.
