The planned 24-hour economy policy promised under the next National Democratic Congress (NDC) government in 2025, will serve as an avenue to provide an enabling economy, former MP of the opposition party stated.

Nii Amasah Namoale, a former Member of Parliament (MP) La-Dadekotoponn, believes the policy has the potential to avert the country’s retrogressing economy.

According to him, despite some political commentators, especially members of the ruling NPP making ill comments about the initiative, it is doable.

His belief aligns with the promise made by the former President and flagbearer of the NDC in the 2024 general election that his next government will introduce an economic work schedule to put the country’s ailing economy back on track.

“What I’m saying is that the 24-hour economy is doable. The only thing is that when we [NDC] come to power, you increase your police force and make sure that streetlight is at all places in the country,” says Nii Amasah Namoale on Angel Morning Show.

The former Law Maker, chastising critics of the policy added that “We are putting up an enabling environment with infrastructure for the 24-hour economy to be done because it has been done before.”

He counseled members of the ruling NPP government on the need to be thoughtful of the process by which the policy would be implemented for execution to take place accordingly.

“A journey with a thousand miles begins with a step – so for those who think the policy will commence immediately after we (NDC) take over power in January 2025 is not the case instead it will be a gradual process for effective implementation,” he told Okatakyei Afrifa-Mensah.
