Ghana’s Lithium Heap: Let’s leave the mineral untouched – Divine Nkrumah

Director of Operations of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Divine Nkrumah has argued that the planned deal surrounding Ghana’s lithium heap would be of no benefit to the country.

He said that the benefits the county must get from the deal must be bigger and better since the mining activities have a distractive tendency.

“Why are we putting ourselves in a deal which won’t benefit us, It’s better we leave it untouched.

“These mining activities have distractive tendencies such as water depletion, loss of biodiversity, and destroying farms so, at the end of the day the benefits should be bigger,” he said.

He opined that leaders should think of a way to better the future of Ghanaians and the coming generations, adding that the real resources of a country is the human resource.

“In my opinion, our real resources as a country are the human resources, so the leaders should think of a way to make the future better,” Mr. Nkrumah added.

He stated further that operations of mining activities over the years have brought no profit to the country.
