A member of the communication team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Enoch Afoakwah, has disclosed that the tablets that are going to be shared under the ‘Ghana Smart School Project’, have restrictions in place to prevent the students from accessing pornographic or betting sites.
According to him, all people raising concerns about the students going to use the tablets for other things not related to education should no longer worry, as restrictions have been put in a place to make sure such things do not occur.
“Some people are saying the children will use it to stake bet and watch things not related to education. It has restricted access on betting platforms, pornographic channels and other sites that they cannot branch off to go watch. Such things have been catered for…,” he said.
He further went on to explain that the tablets have hybrid power system, that can be charged using solar power or the main national grid, all in the bid to prepare the children for a better future.
Mr. Afoakwah stated the distribution of the tablets will commence in 30 schools and will continue till September, 2024 adding that the cry for cry for text books will become a ‘thing of the past’.
He encouraged Ghanaians to embrace the digitalisation initiative by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, since children all over the world are doing wonders with it, and it is going to improve the nation.
