A communication team member of the officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kwaku Boahen has called on Ghanaians not to buy into the propaganda of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government that Akufo-Addo and Bawumia brought digitalization to Ghana.
Speaking on Angel Morning Show (AMS), Kwaku Boahen explained that the distribution of computers to students in school for learning did not start from NPP government and he is not sure anybody can say that Akufo-Addo and Bawumia brought digitalization to Ghana.
“When making calls in the old times, you need to join some line at Accra but now its no more but that’s not the case again…and Ghanaians should also remember that Mahama distributed laptops to kids when he was President too…,” he said.
He mentioned the distribution of phone booths to secondary school started when the late former President John Rawlings was in power because phones were not allowed into schools and that was in the 90s and they were all form digitalization.
According to him, during the 90s, people were not using smart phones but rather using ‘yam’ phones like Nokia 3310 and Motorolla and there was no Facebook, Tiktok, Whatsapp.
“When Tiktok, Facebook and the rest came about 10 to 15 years now and there was android phone available to use to create all these, was NPP in power?”, he queried.
He explained there was no need for them to waste money in launching a project to distribute laptops to student, since former President Kuffour and John Mahama had already done similar things.
