The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC and Ashantigold SC, as representatives of the country in next year’s continental club competitions.

A communiqué signed by the FA spokesperson, Henry Asante Twum, indicated the decision to give the mandate to Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold to represent Ghana in Africa, was reached after several consultative meetings.

“We went back and forth on which clubs will represent Ghana in the inter-club competitions. In the end, we agreed that Asante Kotoko and Ashgold will represent Ghana in the Champions League and Confederations Cup, respectively,” Mr. Asante Twum told Angel FM.

The GFA on Tuesday, June 30, announced cancellation of the football season after putting it on hold for months, following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Managers of football in the country are expected to converge in the coming weeks, the FA Communications Director added.

“There will be a Congress before the start of the new season. However, we have initiated a process with the Registrar General to give us a special opportunity to host the Congress. If that doesn’t not pull through then we may resort to video conferencing,” he said.
