The Savelugu Police Command is after a Driver who crushed to death a Police Officer stationed at a Police Barrier at Diapre on the Bolgatanga- Tamale road.
According to a situational report from the Police, the Driver refused to stop upon reaching the barrier and crashed into the Police barrier killing Lance Corporal Agoha Nelson who was a member of a team of Police members manning the barrier.
The incident, this website gathered further happened at around 12:30am while the driver who was driving a DAF Bus with Registration Number GT 1089 F refused to stop despite the Police signalling him to with torchlight.
The deceased Police officer was said to have stopped only at about 100 metres away from the 100 metres away and bolted.
“Upon receipt of the information, Savelugu District night Patrol team led by DSP/Mr Emmanuel Twumasi-Ankrah quickly proceeded to the scene and found the body of the deceased mutilated beyond recognition.
“The head of the deceased was completely severed off the neck and destroyed…,” a Police report read in part.
The Police officers gathered the remains which were scattered into the blanket and same conveyed to Tamale Teaching Hospital for preservation awaiting autopsy.
The accident vehicle has meanwhile been carted to Police Station and Police are making frantic efforts to arrest the driver.
