Covid-19 ready to kill those who underestimate it – Rawlings

Former President Rawlings

Former President Jerry John Rawlings has rejected claims by former Local Government Minister, Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi that Mr. Rawlings referred to him, Kojo Tsikata, PV Obeng and others as greedy people.

Mr. Rawlings was emphatic in his retort that the former National Security Advisor Captain (Retd) Kojo Tsikata and former Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission P. V Obeng cannot be associated with greed.

Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi in his controversial book titled “Working with Rawlings”, which was launched recently, mentioned the two former appointees of Mr. Rawlings as some of the people the former president regularly labelled “greedy bastards” in his critique of the Prof. Atta Mills administration.

He also mentioned his own brother Ato Ahwoi, former Finance Minister Kwame Peprah and former Information Minister Kofi Totobi-Quakyi as among persons Rawlings called greedy.

But the former president wants Prof. Ahwoi to keep the greedy accolade to himself.

“I’m not unaware of PV and Kojo Tsikata’s strengths and weaknesses. Greed is not part of them. So please don’t whitewash your dirt and greed with their names,” Mr. Rawlings replied in a tweet on Wednesday.

Mr. Rawlings had on Monday promised to respond to Prof. Ahwoi, after claiming the latter was plotting “callous” and “bile” agenda against him.

“Much as I find it tiring and tedious to be engaging in self defence when I have given my all, all these years, I will soon deal with the callous agenda of bile by the likes of Kwamena Ahwoi, who are desperately seeking control of the NDC party.”
