The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said that he is glad his main competitor in the 2020 elections, John Dramani Mahama, of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has acknowledged the free Senior High School (SHS) is a good policy.

According to him, he was taken aback when the chief critic of the policy introduced to offer free tuition for Junior High School (JHS) leavers finally acknowledged that the policy was a better alternative to the ‘old system’.

“I am very happy John Mahama who was an avouched critic of the free SHS policy has finally accepted it…all over the world, people are appreciating the policies of the NPP…,” he said.

The free SHS policy has been the main message of the NPP ahead of the December 7 polls which many have described as crucial.

In recent times, former President John Dramani Mahama has claimed he commenced the free SHS policy when he was in power in 2015.

The claim has shocked many particularly his political opponents.

Commenting on this in an interview on Angel 96.1FM, the President said he was not only shocked but also grateful that Mahama has finally admitted the policy is a good one.
