Asante Kotoko has been beaten by Algerian side, ES Sètif in the first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup play – off.

Kwame Opoku’s goal wasn’t enough to secure a point for the home side as they lost by 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Porcupines were held by Sètif in the first half of the game which ended goalless. Kotoko left back, Imoro Ibrahim hit the cross back after he tried a long range shot just some meters away from the 18-yard box.

Kotoko took the lead in the 68th minute courtesy Kwame Opoku, after Emmanuel Gyamfi played a through pass into the box. But Amouri Mohammed drew parity as he headed in from a close range.

Sètif Kendouci Mohammed added the second goal to secure all three points for the Algerian club. Naby Keita missed a penalty in the 84th minute which would have earned a point for the home side.

Kotoko will travel to play ES Sètif next week, February 21, 2021, for the second leg of the play-off.
