GPL Review: Kotoko, Medeama conquer in Regional Derby as Olympics and Hearts share spoils

Match Day 28 of the ongoing Ghana Premier League tagged the “derby week” produced interesting and competitive duels across all centres.

Medeama SC beat Karela United in the Nzema derby as the Mauve and Yellow won by a late goal  courtesy a Vincent Atingah header.
After a goalless first half, the home side made two changes in the second half in search for the opener.
On the 61st minutes, Zakaria Mumuni made way for Ebenezer Ackahbi while Joseph Tetteh Zutah replaced Godfred Kwadwo Asamoah on the 68 minutes.
Former Hearts of Oak defender Vincent Atingah super header in the 80th minute after latching on a ball from a corner kick gave the home side the bragging rights over their neighbours.

Fabio Gama shines in Asanteman Derby as the Porcupine Warriors hit one pass Obuasi Ashanti Gold at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.

Kotoko had the chance to take lead on the 13th minutes but failed after Gyamfi forces Kofi Nkrumah to lose the ball as he sets off against the keeper who runs from his line. Gyamfi opts for a dribble but fails as the keeper palms the ball out of his reach.

Asmah tears off on the 23rd minutes from the left and produces a beautiful cross into the goal area which is completed with aheader from Gama as the first half ended 1-0.
Augustine Okrah was substituted for Evans Adomako for Kotoko as they push for the second goal but to no avail.
While Yaw Annor, Kwadwo Amoako and Sammed Mohammed came on for the away team.
Referee Daniel Laryea brought the game to a close as Porcupine Warriors reigned supreme in the Asante derby.

It was 1-1 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium as Great Olympics and Hearts of Oak share spoils in ‘Mantse Derby’.
The Phobians took the lead but Abbey Quaye restored parity for the home side.

Isaac Mensah failed to give Hearts the lead after missing a glorious chance after a nice pass from left back, Rady Ovouka as he runs into the box. Goalless in the first half.

Salifu Ibrahim cross was punched by the Oly keeper but a thunder strike from Nettey ended in the pole as the Phobians broke the deadlock on the 50 minutes.
A defensive mistake by left back Ovouka earns the host the equalizer after Abbey Quaye scored from the cross on the 71st minutes.
Hearts of Oak still on top of the league log with goal difference after getting a draw away.

Eleven Wonders recorded a 2-1 victory over Bechem United in the Bono Derby at the Ohene Ameyaw Park.
Tetteh Nortey and Alex Asamoah first half goals helped the ‘Sure Wonders’ beat their Regional Rivals.
While, Stephen Owusu pulled one back for Bechem on the 81st minutes to make it 2-1 as the end of the game.
