The Black Stars of Ghana have suffered a setback in their quest for progress on the global order on the latest edition of the FIFA Men’s World Rankings announced for the month of September.

The development comes on the back of their recent 1-0 loss to African counterpart, South Africa and a win with same score-line over Ethiopia in the ongoing Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualify match earlier this month.

Following this, there has been a drop in the Black Star’s previous total accumulated points from 1420 to 1411.

The two games were part of no fewer games than 152 FIFA World Cup qualifying games as well as 25 international friendlies ties played across the globe in the first week of September.

In a release sighted by Angelonline.com.gh, on FIFA’s official website on Thursday, September’s ranking sees Ghana—now without a coach—retraining its seventh position on the African Continent, above Cameroon (54th in the world), Cote D’Ivoire (57th), and Mali (60th) in Africa’s top 10.

Meanwhile, Senegal, who moved up from their previous 21st to 20th position, still leads the African table after moving up by one place on the world order.

Second place Tunisia moved up to 25th position on the world ranking; Cup of Nations holders, Algeria, being third in Africa, maintained 30th in the world; Morocco dropped by a place to 33rd spot in the world and Nigeria maintained its 34th position, completing Africa’s top five teams.

Lionel Messi’s Argentina maintained the sixth position, with Portugal displacing Spain by a spot from 8th to 7th. Mexico kept hold of their 9th positions, but Denmark with their recent performances completed the top 10 position from their last month’s 11th position.

The next FIFA rankings will be released on October 21.
