Fourteen Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) have fully been endorsed in the Ashanti Region by their various Assemblies.

The nominees had 100 percent approval to fill the MMDCE position in the Region.

The confirmations are in line with the 21-day deadline for the exercise to be conducted nationwide.

That notwithstanding, the assemblies are mandated to either confirm or reject the nominees in their respective jurisdictions based on votes of members present at their meetings as the 1992 Constitution stipulates in Article 243 (1).

It reads: “There shall be a District Chief Executive for every district who shall be appointed by the President with the prior approval of not less than two-thirds majority of members of the assembly present and voting at the meeting.”

Taking this into consideration, the following MMDCEs were approved and sworn-in after polling 100% votes cast by the Assembly members.

The nominees include; Faustina Amissah, Obuasi East; Nii Lantey Ollenu, Amansie West; Rebecca Yeboah, Atwima Nwanbiagya; Akwannuasah Gyimah, Asokwa; Prince Karikari, Atwima Kwanwoma.
