Security ready to deal decisively with criminals – Akufo-Addo assures

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo has assured the general public that, the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies will decisively deal with cases of armed robbery and other violent crimes in the country.

His remarks follow the recent increased spate of crime cases recorded in the country.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 50th cadet officers course in Accra, he stated that, he’s mindful of the menace and thus, the Ghana Police Service are determined to address it.

“I’m aware the recent incidents of violent crimes in some parts of the country have generated safety and security concerns from several sections of the populace. I want to assure Ghanaians that the Police Service and in deed all the other security services are determined to deal decisively with the threats posed by dangerous criminals and criminal syndicates” Prez Akufo-Addo said.

That notwithstanding, he indicated that the fight is not solely the responsibility of the security agencies but all persons and therefore charged Ghanaians to cooperate with the police to enable them discharge their duties efficiently.

“We can help them succeed in this endeavor if we urge the police and the other security services and give them as much support and cooperation in the fight as we can”.

The president, in addition, admonished the police administration to exhibit discipline in their line of duty to enable them earn trust from the public.

“Without discipline and effective supervision, winning public confidence and support to fight crime will be very problematic. The prevention and detection of crime are a shared responsibility between the police and the public, and mutual respect, confidence and support are required to achieve these goals”, he concluded.
