Ashanti Regional Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sam Pyne has been confirmed as the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
He polled a total of 55 votes, representing 95% of valid votes cast when Asembly members were summoned to determine his appointment on Tuesday.
Sam Pyne was nominated as the Mayor of the cosmopolitan city to replace Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi.
The President during his visit to the Ashanti Region appealed to assembly members of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to rescind their threat to reject the MCE nominee for Kumasi, Samuel Pyne.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Pure FM, the President said it wouldn’t be fair to make Mr. Pyne “a victim of the past.”
“I don’t see how they are going to hold up Kumasi from getting a proper executive because of the past. I don’t think that is far. That is not the way to go about it,” he said.
