A leading petroleum company known as Pacific Oil Ghana Limited has donated two pickup trucks worth GH¢566,332 to the Ghana Police Service in a bid to augment its fleet of cars for fight against crime.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Alhaji Ibrahim Zakari, who made the presentation at the Police Headquarters in Accra, said it was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to give back to the society in which it operates.

According to him, supporting the Police Service in various capacities would help reduce crime in the country and ensure the public go about their duties without any fear.

Commending the service personnel for their dedication in the fight against crime even at the peril of their lives, Alhaji Zakari also assured the Police Service of the company’s continuous support in the area of logistics towards the prevention of crime in the country.

He said Pacific Oil Ghana, through Pacific Foundation Ghana, had over the years made donations including presentations to the vulnerable in society and has also supported the Covid-19 fight with some Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, who received the donation on behalf of the service expressed his appreciation to Pacific oil Ghana for adding up to their fleet saying the vehicles will ensure effective patrols in the communities.

While assuring the donor and the general public of the service’s continuous efforts towards maintaining peace and security, he admitted that they would need more support from organizations and philanthropists because the government alone cannot provide all the logistics of the service.
